Love, love, love this hike. Spoiler alert: when you get to the lake it is going to look exactly like every picture you have ever seen of Hanging Lakes. The water is surreal.
TIP: You have to make a reservation for this hike. It was $12pp when we went. They will shuttle you to the trailhead where there are restrooms and water fountains. Bring plenty of water for the hike. It was very warm the day we went. Bring a snack. Be ready to hike uphill On rocky terrain. it is short but not easy. Particularly if you aremy use to the elevation. The hike is over 2 miles RT with an elevation gain over 1000 ft. I love these kind of hikes because it feels like a workout!

Walking from parking lot to trailhead.

This spring is all along the hike. The water is cold and refreshing to splash on your head. Not to drink though!

Love the rocky trail!

Streams and small waterfalls are all along the trail.

The last section of this hike is very steep and rocky. Like, I’m on a stairclimber steep! I have a video that shows the final incline. My videography skills will make you cringe, but whatevs. When you get to the top, turn around to see this view of Glenwood Canyon.

Hanging Lake. For viewing only. No swimming or fishing and no standing on the logs.

After you have taking all the pictures and selfies at Hanging Lake go a little further to see Spouting Rock. I didn’t even see this mentioned on there website. It‘s definitely no secret, but honestly this was my favorite part!

For reference on the size of the falls, look in the far right bottom of the picture below.

Behind the falls. My son walked under the falls. The water is cold and refreshing after the hike up.

They say don’t feed the chipmunks. clearly people are though because he peeked up when we walked and he heard my husband rustling in his pocket!
