After our mountain biking fiasco, I was done biking and ready for hiking. (cheesy). My daughter said, no way, and she stayed with the rest of the family while my husband, son and I went to our last adventure in Crested Butte.
We debated on whether to go to the Summit of Mt. Crested Butte or Judd Falls. https://travelcrestedbutte.com/crested-butte-hikes-judd-falls/ We picked Judd Falls and I’m so glad we did. The drive to the trailhead is a beautiful, narrow, winding pass with stunning views.

The hike is gorgeous, easy and short. The one disclaimer I have about hiking and researching how hard they are is that what is easy to some is hard for others. It is all so subjective. I originally wanted to take my mom, sister and niece on this hike. The term easy is relative. For outdoor, active people it is easy. In our case, my mom and sister did not adjust well to the altitude and were having breathing and swelling issues. This would not be an easy hike for someone who is having issues with altitude, breathing, or balance because it is rocky. Just do your research before taking someone on a hike even if it says easy. Look at pictures of the trail and read the descriptions. For Crested Butte I used https://travelcrestedbutte.com/ (amazing website with so much information and very responsive. I messaged them a few times on Facebook Messenger and they were extremely helpful and quick to respond. https://www.alltrails.com/ is my go to for anything hiking related. It is very descriptive, pictures, maps and up to date reviews.
There are two parking lots. If you have a 4 wheel drive you can keep going up to the higher parking lot that is closer to the trailhead. we parked at the lower lot.
When we hiked up to the second lot we saw a deer hanging out. Can you see him?

The trail has lots of different terrain. Some rocky like in the picture.

Some flat and sandy.

The views all along the hike were incredible.

its always fun to have a waterfall at the end of a hike!
